An original story concept painting from the UPA Studios animated short "Pete Hothead" (1952). Featuring a fabulous image of a household awoken by Pete's outburst in his room, the concept painting was created at the studio by Bill Hurtz, and used during the development process. Concept paintings are often used to develop and finalize the color palette, layout of the action, and the overall feel of the scene. When a color concept is finalized during production, it becomes the reference tool that animators use to paint cels and backgrounds, as well as to further progress through the storyboarding and layout of the individual scenes. Measuring 3.5"x5" overall, the painting is in very good condition with minimal edge and surface wear.
